I’ve heard somewhere before that “happiness is a choice.” And for the past couple of years, I’ve lived by that mantra. I wanted to be fully accountable for the decisions I make—every single smile, every bucket of tears, every triumph, every downfall—as long as I know that I’ve chosen those paths I took on my own. That I wasn’t pushed. That I wasn’t bullied or coerced. That I wasn’t at gunpoint. Knowing that I’ve decided on something really matter. It’s what would make me who I am.
